Co-Curricular Activities

To re-enforce classroom teaching, the school organizes co-curricular activities involving participation In clubs and societies, fieldwork and excursions. These are arranged regularly in accordance with the overall school programme

About the Curriculum

Curriculum of the School is broad based along the lines of the National Policy of Education.

 

The School operates both the Junior and Senior levels of Education.

 

The Junior Secondary School level is both prevocational and academic and we teach all the Subjects as stipulated in the National Policy of Education

 

At the end of the Junior School the Students take both the National Basic Education Certificate Examination and the State Junior School Examination.

 

The Senior Secondary level prepares the Students for careers in the Sciences the humanities and Engineering.

THE NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL:    
The New curricula content as arranged by National Examinations Council (NECO) for the Junior Secondary School includes two basic areas:

 CORE SUBJECT

These are the compulsory subjects which must be offered and passed in J.S.S Classes and during Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) by all students irrespective of the student's aptitudes, interests or future ambition before they can proceed to S.S.I

  • Physical and Health Education
  • Social Studies

  • Computer Studies/ICT

ELECTIVE SUBJECTS
These are the non-compulsory subjects required to be taken by each student as a matter of policy. The subjects are:
  • Business Studies
  • Home Economics
  • Practical Agriculture
  • Arabic
  • Nigerian Laguage (Edo, Efik, Ibibio)
  A BECE Candidate must offer at least one (1) but not more than three Electives. That is, a students can offer a minimum of thirteen (13) subjects or a maximum of Fifteen (15) subjects during his/her final year (JS3)

NOTE: All students must offer all five (5) compulsory cross-cutting subjects. At the final year (SS3), students will offer 3-4 subjects from their field of specialization. One (1) elective may be offered outside their field of specialization provided the total number of subjects is not more than nine (9) and the minimum number of subjects is not less than eight (8)
